About the Department of Biotechnology

The Department of Biotechnology was established in the academic year 2016–2017 with the admission of the first group of 35 students. The department is located in Building B within the College of Science and includes a distinguished group of academics specialized in various scientific fields. They also supervise several master’s students within the College of Science and other colleges. The department’s staff is characterized by their active research involvement, having published scientific papers in peer-reviewed international journals and participated in multidisciplinary research teams in collaboration with researchers from other governmental institutions and Iraqi and international universities.

Vision, Mission, and Goals
To prepare specialized personnel in the fields of biotechnology and provide them with up-to-date knowledge in various areas of biotechnological sciences, enabling them to make full use of plant products and crops, as well as the genetic engineering of living organisms.
