The Department of Biology, College of Science at the University of Diyala held a training session entitled (detection of bacteria that forms the biofilm). The session was held at one of the department's laboratories by Assistant Lecturer Shaima Majeed and Assistant Lecturer Saba Adnan, who are from the Department of Biology stuff. The session aimed to know the attachment of microorganisms to the surfaces and the formation of thin biofilms.
Also, it included an explanation and definition of the biofilm, which is a group of microbial cells attached to surfaces that form extracellular polymeric materials, or what is known as the EPS matrix.
The presenters provided the formation of the biofilm from highly Camouflaged cells, fixed and adhering to an underlayer. The other thing that the presenters focussed on was the basic requirements for the growth of the thin biofilm are the microbes themselves and an underlayer for the bacteria.
The session came out with recommendations, the most important of which are the advantages of the formation of thin biofilms are the protection from antibiotics, disinfectants, and changing dynamic environments .
