Welcome to the heart of Diyala University—the College of Sciences.  The college was established in 2001 with only the departments of Mathematics and Biology.  The college quickly expanded to include seven scientific departments by adding Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Petroleum Geology and Minerals, and later Biotechnology. During the academic year 2016-2017, we moved into new college buildings, and the administrative, service, and information infrastructures were updated.  Continuing its progress, the college established master’s programs in the departments of Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Commuter Science, Mathematics, and Geology.  In addition, the Applied Sciences Consulting Bureau was established in order to provide scientific services to governmental and private sector entities in the province in order to contribute to Iraq’s comprehensive development.  Because of the generosity of several foreign companies, most of our academic departments have been the recipients of modern laboratories supplied with the latest equipment from top-notch global sources.  The college has developed continuing education programs and has expanded our scholarship program.  As a result, our postgraduate students of our college employees are studying in various developed countries including the United States, the United Kingdom, Australia, France, Poland, Hungers, Russia, Malaysia and China.  Moreover, quality assurance plans have been updated to keep pace with global trends in performance.

The students enrolled in our college acquire the skills to make a difference in Iraq’s cultural, scientific and economic life.  Because of the professional and scientific standards adopted by our college programs, students have ongoing opportunities to build their independent and critical thinking skills. They graduate with the ability to analyze and solve scientific problems, thereby contributing to the continued growth of our nation.

Our college has completed its second decade supplying qualified graduates to Iraq’s labor market, both in the public and private sectors.  God willing, it will continue to be a leading scientific institution in Diyala — a place where young Iraqi men and women gain scientific knowledge and welcome all others seeking the same.

I welcome you to our college. I hope you will explore our website and return frequently for updates.  We are happy to receive your feedback and suggestions, and we thank you for your interest.

Professor Dr. Tahseen Hussein Mubarak
