A lecturer at Biology Science Department Participates in an international scientific conference in Germany
Miss Sana Najm Abd, who is the lecturer at Biology Science Department, College of Science, University of Diyala, in XIII International Scientific Conference ((Natural enemies of aphids)) that Held in Munich – Germany by the research (Natural enemy composition rather than richness determines pest density and plant biomass).
The researcher pointed out that biodiversity plays an important role in the fight against agricultural pests, and she indicated the importance of the number of types of natural enemies compared to certain types of these enemies to combat aphids. The research has studied the effect of both the number of types of natural enemies and their composition on insect of beans (Acyrthosiphon pisum) using three types of natural enemies.
The researcher found that the natural enemies contributes generally to reduce the intensity of this insect, also to not effect the increasing the number of types of natural enemies in both the intensity of insect biomass plant Compared to the composition of the natural enemies that have influenced both, and to the existence of a basic type of this combination, indicating an inverse relationship between the pest density and biomass of the plant.
