Because of tremendous developments in the various fields of chemistry, Diyala’s Department of Chemistry was established within the College of Sciences in 2002 to produce chemists to meet the needs of Iraq’s labor market. Since its inception, the department has graduated top quality scientists with skills necessary to move Iraq forward.
The Department of Chemistry, which has a number of undergraduate laboratories as well as a research laboratory, teaches the most up-to-date concepts in the various fields of chemistry while imparting to students the values of academic excellence, ethical behavior, and professionalism. The department encourages the development of individual skills and provides practical experience that will enable students to enjoy productive and satisfying careers. In this way, the department contributes to the academic aims of the University of Diyala’s College of Sciences.
